Understand DC capacity, active inverters, specific production, PR and availability.
The portfolio's PV indicators describe today in the site's local time zone. Period-based dashboards and reports use their selected range. Always read the label before comparing a daily indicator with a monthly report.
These cards describe today in this example. Read the period label and the definitions below before comparing sites. Fictional demonstration data.
| Indicator | Calculation or condition |
|---|---|
| Installed DC capacity | Configured peak capacity of the PV modules, in kWp or MWp |
| Active / total inverters | An inverter is active when its latest AC reading is from today, exceeds 0 W and is no more than 15 minutes old. Missing recent readings make the active count unknown |
| Specific production today | Measured production since local midnight divided by installed DC capacity |
| PR today | Production divided by installed DC capacity times panel-plane irradiation, using intervals with reliable measurements for both |
| Availability today | Share of measured time with an increasing production counter while irradiation is above 0 W/m². Missing readings and known power limitations are excluded |
For PR, irradiation is expressed relative to the reference irradiance of 1 kW/m². With 500 kWh production, 100 kWp DC capacity and 6 kWh/m² panel-plane irradiation, PR is approximately 83.3%, provided the inputs cover comparable intervals.
A 100 kWp installation producing 250 kWh has a specific yield of 2.5 kWh/kWp. Comparing normalized yield is more useful than comparing raw kWh between a 100 kWp and a 1 MWp installation, but weather, orientation and coverage still affect the result.
An em dash can mean missing capacity, no production reading today, a missing beginning-of-day reading, stale inverter data, an unavailable source or insufficiently reliable measurements. Read the hint attached to the value. A partial total may be labeled with the last measurement time or as the sum of available readings.
Energy-counter anomalies or disagreement with measured power can prevent a trustworthy PR calculation. Correcting kWp alone does not repair those readings. A PR above 100% deserves investigation of capacity, irradiation, periods and measurements; it is not automatically evidence of exceptional performance.
Data coverage describes how much usable telemetry exists. Operational availability describes behavior in qualifying intervals. The displayed daily availability is not a contractual availability calculation with every contractual exclusion. When comparing another platform, align the definitions and exclusions, not just the percentage labels.
