Resolve OAuth sign-in, wrong-account access, missing tools, read-only errors, conflicts and incomplete report generation.
First open the same account in Unify and confirm that the site or item is accessible there. Then ask the assistant to call portal_guide. This separates a portal access problem from a disconnected AI tool.
| Symptom | Check and next step |
|---|---|
| No option to add a custom connection | Check the AI workspace's connector policy and available plan. Use the current ChatGPT or Claude setup steps. |
| The server URL is rejected | Enter https://unify.eniris.com/bff/mcp exactly. /mcp is the portal page; it is not the MCP endpoint. |
| Opening the endpoint in a browser does not show a web page | The endpoint is a protocol service. Add it through the client's MCP connection dialog with OAuth; a browser-page response is not a connection test. |
| Asked for a password, API key or static token in the chat | Stop that approach. Start OAuth sign-in from the connection settings. Never paste personal credentials into a conversation. |
| Authorization request expired | Restart from the AI client. An old approval tab is not reusable indefinitely. |
| Connected, but the assistant gives only general answers | Enable/select Unify in that conversation and explicitly ask it to call portal_guide. Check that a tool was actually invoked. |
| Connected previously, now unauthorized | Check MCP → My connections. Sign in again and reconnect if the originating session expired, you signed out or access was revoked. |
| A newly introduced tool is absent | Refresh the client's tool list or reconnect. Also check whether the workspace or conversation has disabled the tool. |
| Symptom | Check and next step |
|---|---|
| The assistant shows the wrong account | Read portal_guide. Reauthorize for the intended account. Switching accounts in a browser does not switch an existing connection. |
| A site is missing | Search the authorized site list and continue pagination. Compare access with the same personal account in Unify. Do not substitute a site ID from another user's conversation. |
| Reading works but saving fails | Check whether the connection allows editing and whether you can edit that object in Unify. Both are required. |
| A formula preview works but saving fails | Preview does not save. Saving the account formula catalogue needs account settings permission as well as editing scope. |
| The assistant says it cannot edit alarm rules or users | Those operations are outside the current MCP tool set. Use the relevant portal screen. |
| A different colleague can access more data | Each connection uses its consenting person's rights. Check membership and site access through user management. |
If a result is missing, request the source, time range and measurement timestamp. Distinguish an unavailable value from a measured zero. PR also requires suitable inputs and a meaningful period; enabling MCP does not create missing PV configuration or telemetry.
For large accounts, narrow the task to one site or a small batch before expanding it. Use daily values for a monthly overview and finer resolution for a short investigation. Avoid repeatedly asking for every measurement from every site at the finest resolution.
The measurement tool accepts at most 24 meter keys per call and a period no longer than 366 days. Use batches and suitable time buckets. A paginated response must be followed until the requested selection is complete; report exclusions explicitly.
A revision conflict means the object changed after it was read. Ask the assistant to fetch the latest definition, keep unrelated changes and reapply only the intended edit. Do not invent a revision number or reuse the old full document.
After a timeout during a write, read the object before retrying. The server may have completed the save even though the response did not reach the client. This matters for new reports, notes and charts, which could otherwise be duplicated.
Include the AI client, approximate time and timezone, the action attempted, the error text, the connected account and affected site or report IDs. State whether the same action works in Unify and whether the connection is read only or permits editing.
Do not include passwords, access tokens, refresh tokens, authorization codes or private callback URLs containing credentials. For screenshots, hide unrelated site data and personal information.
