Note

The UE Series supports both RS485 (Serial) and Modbus TCP (via Ethernet dongle). Ensure you select the correct connection mode in the controller.

Wiring

RS485 (10000 - 20000 UE)

The 10000-20000 UE series uses a specialized circular waterproof connector for RS485 communication. You must disassemble this connector to wire it.

Pin Definition: Inside the circular connector, the pins are numbered 1 and 2.

RS485 Wiring

For correct RS485 wiring: follow the RS485 wiring guidelines.
If the wiring shown in the table below is incorrect, please let us know.
There is no general industry consensus on the use of A and B for RS485 polarity, so the naming may be counterintuitive for some devices.

Note: Consult the manual if your model uses a different connector type.

RS485 (4000 - 6000 UE)

For the smaller UE models, the connection is typically via the terminal block or DB9 port. Please verify with the specific manual linked above.

Configuration

NOTE: RS485 Device Addresses

You MUST give each device a unique address on the RS485 bus. Check the device manual for instructions.
Use lower addresses first (1, 2, ...) because the SmartgridOne Controller will find them faster!
For each device, it is generally recommended to keep the factory-default baud rate, parity, and stop bits. The SmartgridOne Controller will scan those first.

To change the Modbus address on the Growatt UE LCD display:

Double tap the front button/screen to enter the menu.
Navigate to Settings -> Set COM Address.
Select Set Manual.
Single tap to increment the number.
Double tap to confirm ("Set Addr OK!").
